Baeg Tobar New Site and Updates

Hello folks!

It's been a while since I updated things, but that doesn't mean we haven't been extremely busy. We have a LOT of interesting stuff coming together for the project (I know, I keep saying that but failing to post anything - all I can say is be patient, it's coming) and while it's going slow, we are making steady progress. I can't say how excited I am at some of the stuff that's happening behind the scenes right now. I'd love to show you all, but I don't want to give away too much too soon.

What I can say is that we just signed a rather large contract with Playphone to distribute all of our artwork as wallpapers for mobile devices. That's just one of the many things we are putting together for the relaunch of the project.

Anyway, just a quick note - the Baeg Tobar forums are up and mostly running along with the basic layout of the new site. You can view both here - http://www.baegtobar.outlandworlds.com/.

Take a look, be sure to register for the forums, and hopefully, I'll have more news for you soon.

Thanks!

Jer

New BT Intro's...

Well, work on Baeg Tobar goes on.

Right now, we're discussing both the intro to the world itself and the intro to our ongoing webcomic. So, I thought I might share with you all some of our passes at intro's. These are both from Daniel (Gooden) and Scott (Colby).

"Pileaus has fallen. Keystone to the great empire forged by blood and faith, the Emperor's assasination will again divide the land. The Fae lean in to strike from the Dreaming as mortal alliances fracture, faith crumbles and the Dying Lands collapse.

The promise of a golden age ends with this last beat of one man's heart."

And this one...

"Emperor Pileaus is dead. Lesser nations battle to improve their standing in the new pecking order as the Empire struggles to right itself under the hand of an inexperienced regent. Freed from its decades old fear of the Emperor’s stern hand, a continent wracked by war and expansion tilts even further toward chaos. Those familiar with the otherworldly source of this new discord are few and silent.

And yet, despite the strife, business is still business, and the business of war booms loudly as ever for experienced mercenaries like Boruin and his crew. The Empire’s border with Thila is where the money is – but it’s also the focal point of the continent’s most devious machinations, as Boruin discovers when he’s incorrectly charged with the murder of Emperor Pileaus. Luckily for Boruin, the runes on his arm and the library in his head make him more than just some common merc..."

Now, keep in mind that these are a work in progress and subject to change. And hopefully, those should give you a hint or two of what is coming. I'll also post a bit more art in a few days!

Thanks!

New BT Logo!

Wow, I can't believe how long it has been since I last updated. I didn't mean to let things go quite as long as they have, but I've been swamped! Anyway, one of the things we've been working on is the new logo for Baeg Tobar. Below, you can see my sketches -
And below you'll see some magic by Bob Cram Jr. He took my nasty sketches and really made something recognizable! I absolutely love this logo. The next step is adding the type. Here are a couple ideas we're considering. Does anybody have an opinion? Which do you like better?Or...

New Website Previews

Howdy folks!

Well, considering that when we launch the new website, we are going to need allot more functionality, Matt and I decided we needed to redesign the site to make it more flexible for all the things we are going to be doing with it. So, below you'll find the new website designs for several of the pages -

We are also working on a new logo design, so once I have that I'll be posting that up too.

More to come soon!

Legendary Character - Ghembrul Art

Well, I thought I'd bring in the new year right with another new piece of art from our art team. This time, it's a piece from Ben Hunter -

Ghembrul – Cook at the Crooked Branch Inn and Alehouse, Daloon’s Green

Ghembrul’s trip from Ommany to the Shoro is an epic in the Crooked Branch’s common room. While the cook has entertained customers with countless tales, the story seems to be a bottomless barrel where Ghembrul finds something new and unbelievable every time he says “Soon after leaving Ommany…” Few travelers don’t take to the cook’s loud and rough nature as the man never seems to leave the common room without roaring laughter at his back. His kitchen crew though sees a second side to the great hulk of a man. While his eyes are often shining and a joke is near the tip of his tongue, at times the weight of a cleaver in his hand turns his demeanor to iron. Then his work is quiet and focused and his carving a quick work of blood and flying meat. It is his staff that knew first never to broach his life before “soon after leaving Ommany” and the barmaids who quickly distract a curious customer with ale, wink or wiles.

This character was written and created by Daniel Gooden - long time contributor to Baeg Tobar.

You can also see more art from Ben here http://ironhenry.deviantart.com/ and here http://www.ironhenry.com/ (and he's got a really slick new website, so be sure to check it out).

I'll have more to post soon! Hope you all have a great New Years!

Changes in Baeg Tobar.

Hello folks!

Well, the first thing you'll notice is that the main Baeg Tobar website has been replaced with this blog. It may not appear like it is forward progress, but let me reassure you that it, indeed, is. And while there hasn't been much, if any, activity on either the website or the forums lately, allow me to also reassure you that we are far, far, from dead.

There has been allot of behind the scenes activity going on lately. Namely, I have acquired a new business partner (please allow me to welcome Matt Jacobs to the project), whom I have been diligently working with to create a sturdy plan for the future of Baeg Tobar. So, 2008 should prove to be a very interesting year for the project. Just to give you all a few hints at what we're working on -

- We have a MMO game in the works that you will all be able to play for free on our website.
- I am working with Scott Colby and Daniel Gooden (both long term contributors to the project) to create and develop one central, ongoing, storyline for the world. This will be done in the form of a web comic on the site, which like the game, will also be free to read and will feature weekly updates.
- Tons of new art from a dedicated team of artists, myself included.
- I am in talks with a publisher about doing print products of Baeg Tobar material, both comics and a table top RPG.

Plus, we have a number of other things lined up that I'm not quite ready to talk about just yet. Just know, things are looking good for the project in 2008.

That being said, we are planning to relaunch the project in the first quarter of 2008 with allot of new content and, of course, past content that you all know.

I'll be keeping this blog updated weekly with new bits and pieces about our progress.

In the meantime, I'll leave you with a new piece of art from one of our creative team, Jeff Wamester. This is a sketch of Zho Xio, an Eashue "Legendary Hero" from the Shoro -

You can see more of Jeff's artwork at - http://www.stonegazepress.com and http://w4m1.deviantart.com.
